1. The loving-kindness exercises and the subtle mind exercises are alike because they help you relax and focus your mind. With the loving-kindness exercise you are taking in the bad and replacing it with the good for yourself and for others. With the subtle mind exercise you are calming your mind and focusing on one thing at a time instead of the mental chatter that goes on all day long.
2. The relationship between spiritual wellness and mental and physical wellness is very important. When you have a healthy spirit it expands on the metal and physical health. It helps you to reach human flourishing. If your spiritual, physical, and mental wellness are all interconnected then each should be healthy as a whole.

ReplyDeleteHaving a subtle mind means that, in most cases but not all, you can stay calm in nerve racking situations.
ReplyDeleteHaving a loving-kindness conscious you can look at all the bad things, whether they are yours or someone else's, and turn them into good thoughts.
I remember when I was a kid my mom would tell me when I got mad to take ten deep breaths. I would do that and it would help me calm down. In learning these exercises and reminds me of that advice that my mom had given me, especially the witnessing mind exercise.
As this unit passes I am still using the exercises that I have learned and they are doing wonders on my stress level. I feel that I can calm myself down in almost any situation, and really observe what it is that is happening.

Coming to the end of unit five! As we end this unit I would like to reflect on the subtle mind exercises that we learned. First I love learning ways to help relieve stress, these exercises have done just that. When I learned loving-kindness I found that I could take the bad and exchange it for good. I actually experienced the witnessing mind and it felt so good! I am working on the calm-abiding. I think that I have experienced it once, but it was rudely interrupted (lol). It is kind of hard to calm your mind when you have a four and a two year old running around. I love my kids though!
